Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and what we do not.

Our approach to privacy
BorelliScopie® is designed with privacy as a default. You can use the entire platform — every module, every quiz, the TADA simulator — without creating an account or providing any personal information.
If you choose to create an account, we collect the minimum data needed to make progress tracking work. Nothing more.
Without an account
If you use BorelliScopie without signing in, here is what happens:
- No personal data collected. We do not know who you are.
- No tracking cookies. We do not use advertising networks, social media trackers, or cross-site tracking of any kind.
- Anonymous page-view counts only. We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused service, to count how many times each page is visited. It sets no cookies, does not identify individual visitors, and cannot follow you across other websites.
- Progress saved on your device only. So you can pick up where you left off, your module progress, quiz scores, and simulator results are saved in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device — it is never sent to our servers unless you later create an account, at which point it moves into your dashboard. Clearing your browser data removes it.
- Everything works. All educational content, quizzes, and the TADA simulator function fully.
Your learning is your own. Your progress lives only in your browser until you choose to create an account.
With an account
Creating an account is optional. It unlocks progress tracking, quiz history, and a personal dashboard. Here is exactly what we store:
What we collect
| Data | Why | Where stored |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Account login and password reset | Supabase Auth (encrypted) |
| Display name | Shown on your dashboard | Supabase database |
| Module progress | So you can resume where you left off | Supabase database |
| Quiz attempts | So you can review your learning history | Supabase database |
| Account timestamps | When you registered, last login | Supabase Auth |
Signing in with Google
If you choose to sign in with Google instead of an email and password, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us to create your account. We never see your Google password. Google's own privacy policy governs their side of this process.
Cookies
When you sign in, we set strictly necessary cookies that keep you securely signed in. These are essential for account features to work and are not used for tracking or advertising. We set no other cookies.
What we do not collect
Even with an account, we do not collect:
- Payment information (BorelliScopie is free)
- Location data
- Device or browser fingerprints
- Browsing behaviour beyond your BorelliScopie progress
- Any patient or clinical data
Data security
Your data is stored in Supabase, a managed database service hosted in the EU (Ireland). Row-level security policies ensure you can only access your own data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
Your rights
You can:
- View your data — your dashboard shows all stored progress and quiz history
- Export your data — contact us and we will provide a full export
- Delete your account — this permanently removes all your data from our systems
- Correct your data — update your display name or email in your account settings
These rights apply regardless of your jurisdiction, though they also align with GDPR, UK GDPR, and similar data protection frameworks.
Email updates (optional)
Some pages offer to email you — for example, "notify me when this section launches" or the footer's new-modules list. If you sign up:
- What we store: your email address, which list you joined, and when. Nothing else.
- Why: solely to send you the update you asked for. We will not use your address for anything else, and we never share or sell it.
- Legal basis: your consent — you gave us the address for this purpose.
- Where: the same Supabase database as account data, hosted in the EU (Ireland).
- Leaving the list: email hello@borelliscopie.com at any time and we will remove you promptly. Every update we send will also tell you how to unsubscribe.
Signing up for updates does not create an account, and creating an account does not add you to any email list.
No patient data
BorelliScopie does not collect, process, or store any patient information. The platform has no mechanism for uploading clinical images, entering patient data, or submitting identifiable health information.
Do not enter patient information anywhere on this site. The educational simulator uses pre-authored teaching scenarios only.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) may automatically log basic technical information when you visit:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Pages requested
- Date and time of access
These logs are managed by Vercel according to their privacy policy. We do not analyse them for user tracking or marketing purposes, and they are retained for a limited period before deletion.
Local storage
BorelliScopie uses your browser's local storage for one purpose: remembering your own learning as you use the platform — module sections you have read, quiz scores, and your TADA simulator progress. This is functional storage for a feature you are actively using, not tracking: it stays on your device, is not readable by us or by any third party, and is never transmitted to our servers unless you create an account (when your device-stored progress is moved into your dashboard and then removed from the device). You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Third-party services
BorelliScopie uses a small number of third-party services:
Supabase — provides authentication and database storage. Data is stored in the EU (Ireland). Supabase's privacy policy governs their handling of infrastructure-level data.
Vercel — provides website hosting and delivery. Vercel's privacy policy governs their handling of server logs and infrastructure data.
Vercel Analytics — provides anonymous, aggregate page-view statistics so we can see which educational content is most used. It is cookieless, does not identify individual visitors, and does not track you across other websites.
Google sign-in (optional) — available as an alternative way to create and access your account, as described above.
We do not use advertising networks, social media integrations, or any analytics that identify individual users.
External links
BorelliScopie may link to external resources such as guidelines, references, and related organisations. Once you leave our site, you are subject to the privacy practices of those external sites, which we do not control.
Children
BorelliScopie is designed for healthcare professionals and students. It is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change our privacy practices, we will update this page. The "last updated" date at the top shows when revisions were last made. Significant changes will be noted on the dashboard for signed-in users.
